Unigirl sculpture
She started out as one of two small doodles with fluro gel pens and water colour paints at a friends house one day, when I was thinking about writing a little illustrated childrens style story or comic to try to convey the feelings of confusion and distress involving an identity crisis and dealing with being bullied and challenged.
Over time she then she evolved to this... I worked on her for months and I'm very proud of her. First I sculpted her out of clay on a metal armature then I made a mould of the clay head with silicone and plaster, which I used to slush cast polyurethane resin and then, sanded, cleaned up, painted and everything. I worked so hard I feel like I gave birth to her, and all my creations feel like my children, hehe. She seemed to be everyones favourite at my exhibition. I tried to make her goofy and cute but still kind of strong and wise, sure of herself, like she is truly her true self. She meant to be magical and awe inspiring..

Wow this sculpture is utterly amazing, she is so gorgeous!! Looks very powerful.
She doesn't look like she has been handmade, she looks very otherwordly, real and fleshy.
What inspires your work because I've seen a few of your other sculptures and art you posted pics of too and I think its all so amazing?

thank you very much :) I try to get a balance of it looking like a handmade object, as opposed to a mass produced looking one, but also aim for freakish realism. Some people at my show were asking if i took life casts of faces to make it, and were suprised when I said I hand sculpted it from clay, which is a nice compliment but also kinda dont want people to think that, coz I did make it all myself from my imagination, not even any reference material or life model. I am heavily inspired by a mix of many things but mostly the 80's toys I collect, fantasy, sci-fi, mythology, space, insects, aliens, stars, the sky, clouds, aurora borealis, orion nebula, rocks, crystals, shamans, magical rituals and objects, japanese culture, tribal cultures, ancient civilisations and tribes and people, faces, the human body in general, people watching, street fashion and many artists a lot of which are listed in my heros section of my myspace :www.myspace.com/snowskinmooncakes, have a look and google them for some serious inspiration
